Cooper’s First Day/Night at home
We went to pick Cooper up yesterday around 5 O’clock. All his brothers and sisters were there. He was the first one to go home. The ride home was very long, a 2 hour drive. It seemed even longer with a small puppy in my lap. It wasn’t actually as bad as you expect. He was very well behaved and slept almost the entire ride home. We also stopped once so he could go to the “potty”.
What was the first night with a small puppy at home like?
Well it wasn’t like I had expected, not at all. I had expected a very wild pup. I had put (and still have) newspapers all around his bed, just in case… Well I didn’t even need it. He woke me up two times asking to go to the potty. I just opened the door to our garden and went outside with him and he did his business. (Once at 3 am and the other time at 5am.)
At 5am after he had finished his business, I brought him back to my room put him in his bed. Afterwards he wanted to play. So I gave him a toy he played with it for a while and then went back to sleep.
The First actual “Day” with Cooper was yesterday. I went to city hall to do his registration. Here where I live you have to pay taxes to have a dog. It was pretty stressful to get there because I had to carry him because he doesn’t really “know” how to walk with a leash bothering him all the time. And with his 6,6 kg it wasn’t an easy thing to do. Me, my sister, cousin and aunt had to keep taking turns carrying him. After a while he started crying and barking like a crazy dog. I figured out it was because he was tired and wanted to sleep so I stopped and sat in the park and he slept a while. After that we went home and he slept again. With puppies this young it’s important they get a lot of sleep. It’s just like a baby. At 9 weeks they already play dogs I mean. Not babies.
How is Cooper?
Cooper is a puppy. Very easy going loves to sleep. He sleeps ALL the time, but that’s pretty normal for his age.(he’s 9 weeks) He still isn’t perfectly house trained; but he does ask to go outside. There also been some accidents.(three)
Cooper’s 2nd Day home:
Well this night was better than last. He only woke up once and asked to go outside. That was around 5:20 am. The only big problem is that afterwards he didn’t want to go back to sleep. He wanted to play. And at 5:30 am I didn’t want to play. So I gave him a bone I bought for puppies and he chewed on that. After 15-20 minutes he fell asleep again and then so did I. But I had to go to work at 7am so I woke up and so did he. I took his bed and stuff to my Parents room and left my mom taking care of him.
Today something happened that wasn’t really an accident (he had), it was like he wanted to copy what we do. He went to the bathroom and pied next to the toilet. He had seen me do it so he thought he was supposed to do it too. But he’s too small to reach and pied next to the toilet. It was an accident but I wouldn’t say it was a really bad one, cause he just wanted to copy me.
Other than that we haven’t started our “training sessions” yet. I’m going to wait until he feels a little bit more at home. He’s only been here for 3 ½ days so I’ll give him some time. He doesn’t cry at night, at all. For that I’m very thankful.
Me and Cooper are happy and getting to know each other. He already know I’m his new Mom.
Pic of the day… (more than one today.)
